A Report of the Lake Vyrnwy Meeting

Unlike the cold snowy weather of the 2013 meeting, sixty four delegates were treated to glorious sunshine as they met at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel in Mid Wales for the Institute's Annual Conference, dedicated this year to the topics: ‘Rheometry and General Rheology'
Delegates, who came from some fourteen different countries, gave a total of thirty four presentations including both experimental and theoretical work as well as some interesting applications. A full list of the topics covered in the meeting is given later in this report.
A part of the meeting was given over to British Society of Rheology business, including the award to Jason Stokes of the 2013 Annual Award of the BSR. Jason’s Annual Award Lecture followed and the session finished with the Annual General Meeting of the Society.

At the conference dinner we listened to Jeffery Giacomin who entertained us with a miscellany of pictures and comments giving a snapshot of his view of the world around him. He was followed by Peter Townsend who gave a short tribute to Ken Walters as he approached his eightieth birthday later in the year. (See the article in our news archive for more on this)
Accompanying Persons Programme
The meeting included a well supported accompanying persons programme. Fifteen partners of delegates enjoyed the excellent facilities at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel as well as the attractions of the wonderful scenery around Lake Vyrnwy
